PASIGHAT, Nov 10: Rashtrapati Award recipient Namut Dai passed away at about 11:30 pm on 8 November at his residence here in East Siang district. He is survived by his wife, three sons and a daughter.
Born in 1954, Dai had joined service as a teacher in 1971, and had retired in 2014.
He had been conferred the State Teacher Award in 1998 for his outstanding contributions in the field of education, and had been given the National Teacher Award in 2007.
Local MLA Kaling Moyong in a condolence message expressed shock over Dai’s demise.
“I am extremely shocked to hear about the loss of our favourite teacher. I will forever remember his contributions and guidance,” said Moyong, and extend condolences to the bereaved family. (DIPRO)
