VKV students shine in IISF

KUPORIJO, Nov 10: Ten students of the Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya (VKV) here in Upper Subansiri district won several prizes in the recently held India International Science Festival (IISF) in Kolkata, West Bengal, from 5-8 November.
While Kora Mosu secured the third positions in the model and the oral presentations, Bomjen Game bagged the third prize in the poster presentation. Both Mosu and Game are Class 9 students.
The theme for the contest was ‘Conservation of biodiversity for sustainable life in northeastern states of India’.
The girls’ cultural team, comprising Yatu Maying, Moon Mara, Nuju Maying, Haijar Dulom and Jirty Dingsar, secured the third position in the ‘most beautiful dance of Northeast’ category.
They performed the beautiful Tagin folk dance, Si-Ome.
The students were also taken to the Satyendra Nath Bose National Centre for Basic Sciences on an exposure tour. They were accompanied by their teachers Suman Kondha, Harmohan Dash and Runi Devi Chaubey.
The valedictory function of the festival was attended by union Science & Technology Minister Harsh Vardhan.
The aim of the IISF is to provide a platform for young students, scientists and technocrats from across India to exchange knowledge and ideas for sustainable development and new technological innovations.
