LONGDING, Nov 24: Cataracts were detected in 26 out of 367 patients during a free eye screening camp organized by the Arunachal Vikas Parishad (AVP) at the CHC here on Sunday.
“All the patients detected with cataract will be taken to Dibrugarh (Assam) for surgery,” eye specialist from Dibrugarh, Dr RB Mishra, who attended the camp, said.
Local MLA Tanpho Wangnaw, who inaugurated the camp, hailed the AVP “for rendering humane service to the people of Arunachal,” and expressed hope that the camp would immensely benefit the people of the district.
Earlier this month, the AVP had conducted free eye camps at Deomali and Khonsa, in Tirap district.
Among others, Longding DMO Dr N Ngemu and district BJP president Pankhu Wangsu attended the inaugural function. (DIPRO)
