CS asks HPDCAPL to address power generation issues

ITANAGAR, Dec 6: Chief Secretary Naresh Kumar has directed the Hydro Power Development Corporation Arunachal Pradesh Ltd (HPDCAPL) to come up with expert opinions and solutions to address the power generation problem of the hydropower projects which are generating less power than their capacities or what they were supposed to generate.
Kumar, who held a review meeting with HPDCAPL officials here on Friday, also directed the corporation to submit a detailed status report on all the hydropower projects in the state being executed by it, including the defunct ones, “stating the reason(s) for their becoming defunct,” within a week’s time.
He suggested to the HPDCAPL to consult premier institutions with expertise in the field to revive the defunct hydropower projects.
The HPDCAPL managing director informed that 25 projects out of the 127 being executed by the corporation are lying defunct due to various reasons.
Meanwhile, the CS advised the HPDCAPL to “develop the transmission system in such a manner that electricity can be transmitted from one project to another area or district, when it is required.”
He also reviewed the status of the Sumbha Chu SHP (2×1.5 mw), the Taksang Chu SHP (2×1.7 mw), and the Taksang Chu SHP (2×0.80 mw) in Tawang. (CS’ PR Cell)
