DCM reviews preps for Parshuram Kund Mela

TEZU, Dec 6: Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein on Friday convened a meeting with administrative officers and various stakeholders here in Lohit district to review the preparatory activities related to next year’s Parshuram Kund Mela.
The fair is held every year on 14 January, on the occasion of Makar Sankranti.
Calling for “providing a new look to the celebration of the mela,” Mein sought coordination among all the stakeholders to ensure that the event is successful, and gave assurance that he would also provide all support from his end.
He directed the PHE, the public works, and the power departments to ensure timely completion of the tasks entrusted to them.
“Energy of the youth needs to be channelled in a positive direction,” said Mein, and advocated engaging local youths during the festival to provide them with job opportunities.
Tezu MLA Karikho Kri described Parshuram Kund as “the pride of the district, with historical and religious significance attached to it,” and requested the DCM to “accord state festival status to the Parshuram Kund Mela.”
The meeting was also attended by DC Prince Dhawan, SP DW Thongon and members of the Parsuram Gram Seva Samiti.
