TAWANG, Dec 9: The Tawang district administration and the police here on Monday created awareness among the people on traffic regulations.
NCC cadets – both boys and girls – were also engaged to manage the traffic and educate the public on traffic rules and safe driving.
Town Magistrate Choiki Dondup and DSP Thuptan Jambey apprised taxi drivers of the traffic rules and the dos and don’ts while driving, and urged them to be polite, honest and disciplined.
“Taxi drivers play a very important role in making good or bad impression of any tourist destination; so, be good ambassadors of tourism and contribute in making our state more tourist-friendly,” Dondup told the cabbies.
The awareness programme will be carried out for a few weeks, following which, those who are found violating traffic rules will be penalized and legal actions initiated against them, the magistrate informed. (DIPRO)
