SEPPA, Dec 23: As part of their ‘outreach education orientation programme’, members of the East Kameng Social Welfare & Cultural Organisation (EKSWCO) visited and took stock of the government middle school in Pakke and the government residential school in Rawa on Saturday and Sunday.
The remote schools are in the district’s Bameng assembly constituency. Most of the students from the Puroik community are studying at the school in Rawa.
Interacting with the students, EKSWCO general secretary Nikam Tallang explained the importance of education, and exhorted them to imbibe morals and discipline in life. He also urged them to give equal importance to co-curricular activities, and to develop their cognitive aptitude.
Tallang requested the teachers to motivate the students and impart quality education. He said the EKSWCO would extend all possible assistance to improve the education sector in the district.
During the visits, guided by EKSWCO chairman Dahey Sangno, the status of school syllabus, enrollment of students, and availability of books were discussed.
Feedback was sought and problems were also enquired into.
Sweaters, blankets, notebooks and pens were distributed among the students by the EKSWCO team.
The outreach programme has been conceptualized to instill confidence and promote education among the students of the district. (DIPRO)
