ITANAGAR, Nov 19: The mortal remains of former MLA of 14th Doimukh Assembly Constituency and current Arunachal Pradesh Agriculture Marketing Board (APAMB) Chairman, Ngurang Pinch was handed over to his family after post mortem on Sunday evening.
His body has been taken to Kimin for the last rites. In a release, the family member informed that last rites of late Pinch will be held at his Kimin residence on Monday at 1 PM. They have appealed to the people of the state to join and pay adieu to the departed soul.
Pinch was found dead on Saturday in Hatimatha near Basar Nallo in Papum Pare. According to police, Pinch was part of an eight-member team that had gone for rafting on Friday and camped at the confluence of Popum and Poma rivers. The other members of the rafting entourage were former minister Tater Kipa and Atum Welly.
Meanwhile, the death of the hugely popular leader has sent shockwaves across the state. The people of Doimukh Assembly Constituency, which he represented, are especially mourning the sudden death of late Pinch.
Despite coming from a poor economic background, he went on to become the member of the Fourth Legislative Assembly in 2004. Pinch started his political career from student politics and later occupied important positions like Anchal Samiti Member, Zilla Parishad Member, President DCC (I) Papum Pare, NCP State President, etc. During his stint as MLA, he became extremely popular for improving the rural road connectivity of Doimukh Assembly Constituency.
Condolences are pouring in from all sections of society. The Arunachal Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) has expressed shock on the sudden and untimely demise of Ngurang Pinch, Chairman of APAMB and former MLA of Doimukh Assembly Constituency.
Deeply saddened at the passing away of late Pinch, the APCC described him as an eminent social activist, who served the people of the state selflessly and contributed enormously in the political field. It is indeed an irreparable loss for the Nyishi community in particular and the state in general, the Congress party stated.
A condolence meeting was organised on Sunday at the BJP State Office to condole the sudden demise of late Pinch.
Speaking on the occasion, state BJP Vice President, Tame Phassang shared the life story of late Pinch from his early life to his rise as an MLA of 14th Doimukh Assembly Constituency. He termed his death as a great loss for the people of Doimukh and particularly for the Ngurang clan, of which he was the most prominent person in public life.
Long time friend and colleague, Parliamentary Secretary Food & Civil Supplies Tage Taki described that late Pinch was a foresighted visionary leader with a mass appeal among the pubic of his area. He threw light on all the developmental works carried out by Pinch as an MLA and called him a development oriented leader.
Taki expressed that in the death of late Pinch, the BJP has lost a very good karyakarta and the Nyishi community lost one of its best leaders.
State BJP President, Tapir Gao expressed deep sorrow at the untimely demise of late Pinch and stated that late Pinch was a very hardworking person, who came up from the grassroots level to become an MLA by virtue of his sheer hard work. He opined that the death of Pinch was an irreparable loss for the BJP and for Arunachal Pradesh.
On the occasion, two minutes silence was observed as mark of respect for late Pinch. State BJP General Secretary Jarpum Gamlin, members of all the morchas and other senior karyakartas were also present.
The National People’s Party, Arunachal Pradesh unit has also mourned the death of late Pinch.
Meanwhile, the Arunachal Civil Society (ACS) has appealed to the state government to set up judicial inquiry to probe into the circumstances leading to the death of late Pinch. Further, the ACS remembered him as great soul who served the people of the state selflessly.
