Students urged to become job creators

NIRJULI, Feb 25: NERIST Director, Prof HS Yadav, appealed to students to become job creators instead of seeking blue-collar jobs, in order to reduce unemployment.
He said this during a national awareness programme themed ‘Build the enterprise of your dreams’, organized by the ministry of micro, small & medium enterprises (MSME) at the NERIST here on Tuesday.
Altogether 120 students participated in the programme, which was aimed at promoting and supporting the untapped creativity of individuals and promoting adoption of the latest technologies in manufacturing as well as knowledge-based MSMEs.
Highlighting the importance of promoting entrepreneurs for the development of the society and the nation, Prof Yadav said students, “particularly those with engineering and management background, should not only be job seekers but they should be job creators, in order to reduce the unemployment among the youths.”
He informed that students of the institute would be taken on a tour of industries developed through MSMEs in the northeastern region.
Itanagar MSME Branch Assistant Director, SLN Kumar, spoke about the financial assistance, soft loans and grants available under the scheme for setting up startups.
The MSME branch’s other Assistant Director, Abhishek Singh, highlighted important central sectors schemes for MSMEs.
