ITANAGAR, Mar 23: The state unit of the Indian Medical Association (IMA-AP) has formed a ‘Covid-19 task force’, led by the unit’s president, Dr Lobsang Tsetim, which is engaged in assisting the Covid-19 control room of the state government.
“The task force has already contacted more than 100 students/travellers coming from other endemic zones in the last two days with necessary counselling for home quarantine, the dos and don’ts at home, etc,” Dr Tsetim informed in a release on Monday.
Expressing appreciation for the state government’s decision to put the state under partial lockdown to break the chain of the Covid-19 pandemic, the unit urged the government to come up with clear-cut standard operating protocols for control and management of various stages of Covid-19, and for adequate supply of personal protection equipment to the health workers engaged in dealing with Covid-19.
Urging the people of the state to observe social distancing and ensure personal protection and hygiene, it requested students and travellers coming from outside the state to quarantine themselves at home for 14 days. The unit also urged the public to “inform the name of such students or parents of the students/travellers with their contact number, if any, in the helpline numbers.”
It meanwhile requested the state government to defer the APPSC exam and all upcoming festivals.
