ITANAGAR, Aug 30: The 5th State Level Veteran Football Tournament (31 years and older) is scheduled to begin at Rajiv Gandhi Stadium, Naharlagun on September 2.
A total of 14 teams are participating in the tournament this year, which have been divided into four pools, with winners and runners-up of each pool qualifying for the quarterfinals.
While Pool ‘A’ comprises East Kameng FA, Siang Highlanders FC, Sagalee FC and Tribal FC, Pool ‘B’ comprises of Naharlagun United FC, Laba FC, Kra Daadi FC and Singik FC. Arunachal United FC, Doimukh FC and Green FC have been clubbed together in Pool ‘C’ and E&Ks, Kurung Kumey and PTC have been placed in Pool ‘D’, informed organizing secretary Tadar Rupu.
The opening match will be played between defending champions NUFC and the Dark Horse Laba FC.
The semi finals will be played on September 14 and 15 and the final on September 17.
Organizing Chairman Toko Tatung appealed to all the participating teams to play the game in its true spirit.
