ITANAGAR, Aug 31: The National Tobacco Control Programme (NTCP), Lower Subansiri district, in collaboration with the All Ziro-Hapoli Youth Association (AZHYA) on Thursday conducted prize distribution for inter-school writing competition.
The competition was organized by NTCP Lower Subansiri district in the month of July-August as per the guidelines issued by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India.
The participants for the competition were categorized from classes VI to VIII and classes IX to XII, with the theme ‘To Quit Tobacco’. The letters were evaluated by the school authority itself. The first and second best letters from both the categories were sent to NTCP (NCD) cell Ziro for the final evaluation to be declared as district winners.
Nancy Maga of Padi Lailang Memorial School won the first prize in senior category and Techi Naya was awarded second. Aditya Dutta of Don Bosco School, Hapoli and Hano Sumpi of ABYSS Institute of Sciences won first and second prizes in the junior category.
Former MLA Nani Rebia gave away the prizes to the students.
On the occasion, District Programme Officer, Dr Subu Habung spoke on harmful and deadly effects of tobacco.
