KHARSANG, Sep 9: The first Karsang Football Super Cup 2017 was kicked off by Parliamentary Secretary for Legal Metrology and Consumer Affairs Laisam Simai at GHSS, Kharsang playground here on Saturday.
Speaking after inaugurating the tournament, Simai appealed to the youths to abstain from using drugs as drugs and alcoholism can only cause destruction.
He hoped the tournament with the theme ‘Say no to drugs, Say yes to life’, will help channelize the youth energies in the right direction.
Miao EAC AJ Lungphi also attended the opening ceremony,
Chingsa FC defeated Namchik Namphuk 5-0 in the opeing match.
In total, 32 teams are in the fray for the trophy. The winners and runners up teams will be awarded cash prize of Rs 50,000 and Rs 30,000 , along with trophies.
The finals will be played on October 2.
The tournament is organised by Kharsang Sports Committee and patronized by local MLA and Minister, Kamlung Mosang.
