Football revolution in the offing

ITANAGAR, Sep 13: The Arunachal Pradesh Football Association (APFA) is all set to infuse professionalism into the football structure in the state by kick-starting the first edition of the Arunachal Super League (ASL).
The club-based competition, which has been modelled after the Indian Super League, will run from September 23 to November 26. Only the clubs registered with APFA will participate in the league.
Interestingly, the league is entirely sponsored by multinational companies, with Naharlagun based construction giant T K Engineering Consortium Pvt Ltd being the title sponsor.
Talking to this daily, APFA General Secretary Kipa Ajay informed that the main objective of organizing the tournament is to initiate proper commercial and sustainable approach to develop club football in the state, develop top football clubs to compete with the best in the country, provide players career opportunities by creating ideal commercial environment and to help clubs generate income and increase their fan following.
“Earlier, the APFA had organized two editions of the Arunachal Football League in 2012-13 and 2014-15. But the new executive body of APFA realized that present league system in the state needed many rectifications to sustain in the future and decided to introduce more commercial and systematic approach considering the league systems of other states in the country. Later, it came up with a decision to launch the Arunachal Super League in the state,” added Ajay.
The clubs which will vie for the coveted title of ASL are Todo United, Nirjuli United FC, Gora Makik SC, Tagung Neri SC, Capital Complex FC, Bamang Taji FC and Deed Circle FC.
