ITANAGAR, Sep 25: The Kipa Kache Memorial Football (boys) Tournament, a part of the All Arunachal Pradesh Students’ Union’s (AAPSU) Golden Jubilee Celebration, started on Sunday after it was formally inaugurated by former Lok Sabha Member Takam Sanjoy and Capital Complex Deputy Commissioner Prince Dhawan at Dera Natung Government College, Itanagar.
In the opening match, Changlang District Students Union defeated the NERIST team by 2-0 with a brace from Donial Kevin.
On Monday, Lower Dibang Valley team routed Lohit by 2-1 with a brace from Tone Linggi, while the Papum Pare team outshined Upper Siang by 2-0, with goals from Tana Tassar and Temi Kapa.
In the third match of the day, Gandhi Jomoh’s solitary goal catapulted the East Kameng team to next round of the league match by humbling Upper Subansiri by 1-0 goals.
Altogether, 14 teams are participating in the football tournament.
In the Takam (Gora) Sharmila Memorial Women Volleyball at Dera Natung Governmen College playground, West Siang, Kra Daadi and East Kameng emerged winners, while playing against the teams of Lohit, Papum Pare and West Kameng.
