ITANAGAR, Sep 25: The All India Union of Forest Working People (AIUFWP) has demanded immediate and unconditional release of Teesta Seetalvad.
The human rights activist and Vice President of the Union, Seetalvad was arrested in Varansi on Monday morning where she had come to participate in a pre-fixed training youth programme – yuva samta samvad , organized by the Samajvadi Jan Parishad.
It has further demanded setting up of an independent enquiry into the unwarranted lathi charge on women students of BHU on Sunday and to punish those found responsible.
It is shame on the Prime Minister, who despite being physically present in his Parliamentary Constituency of Varanasi, chose to ignore as he has always done, the pleas of women students of BHU and asking the BHU administration for “protection” from continuous attempts by outside lumpen elements from harassing them on a regular basis, said a press statement issued by AIUFWP President, Jarjum Ete.
