52 Scouts and Guides receive BSG Rajya Puraskar

ITANAGAR, Sep 27: Governor P B Acharya on Wednesday presented Rajya Puraskar of Bharat Scouts and Guides (BSG) to 25 Scouts and 27 Guides.
Rajya Puraskar is the highest award in the state for Scouts and Guides activities.
Addressing the Scouts and Guides during the award ceremony at the Raj Bhawan, the Governor urged them to be the soldiers of ‘New India’ and contribute towards nation building.
The Governor also called upon the Bharat Scouts and Guides organisation to foster unity, discipline and patriotism amongst the young minds.
Parliamentary Secretary (Home and Education) Pani Taram said that Bharat Scouts and Guides is an organization to mould the youth to be a responsible citizen. He also called upon the officials of Bharat Scouts and Guides and the Education Department to motivate the youth to become worthy citizens.
Gania Leij, Director School Education cum State Chief Commissioner, Bharat Scouts and Guides informed that Arunachal Pradesh is one of the best states in scouts and guides activities in the country.
Presenting a brief report on Scouts and Guides activities in the state, State Scout Organizer P Kalita informed that the Scouts and Guides movement started in 1958 in the state at Pasighat and then to Ziro in 1961. Today it has 777 units with more than 22,000 members, including Cubs, Bulbuls, Scouts, Guides, Rovers and Rangers.
In 2016, three scouts and one guide from Upper Subansiri district and one scout and one guide from Lower Subansiri district received the Rashtrapati Scout/ Guide Award, the SSO added.
Kenpi Pakam, State Training Commissioner (Guide) and National Vice President, Bharat Scouts and Guides also spoke on the occasion.
Highlights of the ceremony were stalls of Bharat Scouts and Guide, induction ceremony of the Governor as Patron of BSG in the state, patriotic dance-drama by scouts, guides, bulbuls and cubs of Hornbill English Medium School, Itanagar and Don Bosco School, Jullang and first aid demonstration by Rajya Puraskar awardees.
Wife of the Governor, Kavita Acharya, Deputy Director School Education cum State Commissioner (Guides) Mallo Yam Golo, State Guide Organizer (SGO) C. Lowang, officials from Bharat Scouts and Guides and Education Department were present on the occasion.
