ITANAGAR, Sep 30: Mass cleanliness drives were held in Khonsa and Yingkiong as part of the Swachh Bharat Mission recently.
A mass social service as a part of ‘Swachhata Hi Seva’ was conducted in the four kilometre stretch of PMGSY road from the Chief’s residence of Huakan to Dadam main road junction point by the Huakan Youth Welfare Association (HYWA).
HYWA President Waboam Nokbi and Secretary Wangwih Sumnyan appreciated public leader, Jalin Hakhun for providing an earth mover machine and also appreciated Nyamwang Lowang, son of Dadam Chief Wanggo Lowang and Wanang Thinra of Kothin village for joining them in the mass social service.
Chief of Huakan, Kamwang Lowang said that the social service before the Ronghuan Kuhwa, a major festival of Huakan village, will make it easier for visitors to attend the three days festival to be held from October 10 next.
All heads of families and youths of Huakan actively participated in it.
At Yingkiong, a mass cleanliness drive was held in connection with the ‘Shramdaan Swachhta’ and ‘Sarvatra Swachhta’ under Swachh Bharat Mission (Gramin) in the premises and surroundings of the PHE office, schools, anganwadi centres, bus stand, ponds, etc on September 29.
The programme, led by Boni Perme, JE PHE &WS Yingkiong-II, saw the participation of various Panchayat and public leaders, villagers and government officials.
