Tawang DC calls for quality service to tourists

TAWANG, Oct 13: Tawang Deputy Commissioner Sang Phuntsok exhorted tourist service providers to equip themselves with the required knowledge to deliver services to the tourists to their satisfaction.
“Tawang has established itself as a favourite tourist destination. It is imperative that those in the service must equip themselves with the fundamental knowledge and ethics for quality customer service,” said the Deputy Commissioner during a coordination meeting with the hoteliers, tour operators and members of bazaar committee and Taxi Union of Tawang.
Highlighting the contribution of tourism industry in economic growth, he appealed to the hoteliers, tour operators, taxi union and Bazaar Welfare Committee secretaries to work in tandem for larger interest of the district.
Superintendent of Police MK Meena emphasised on compulsory registration of hotel occupants and obtaining taxi permit a mandatory.
He sought cooperation from all the stakeholders to ensure safety and security of the tourists and the region as well.
Taking note of few previous instances of health issues faced by the tourists owing to high altitude, DTO Tawang Tsering Dekey insisted on making oxygen cylinders in all hotels compulsorily available. She also stressed on the importance of fire-fighting equipments in hospitality sector.
