ITANAGAR, Oct 15: A prayer book titled “Donyi-Polo: Ayang Long Yika”, a first of its kind for the Boh, Ramo and Bokar communities of Adis of Mechukha Sub-Division, was released at Donyi-Polo Gangging at Mechukha on Sunday.
The book is authored and published by Oi Komi (Ragyor) in Boh, Ramo and Bokar languages with an objective to preserve the rich traditional culture.
ZPM Mechukha-Tato Block, Yasurn Rinya, formally released the book in presence of Tajo T Samchung, AE, PWD Mechukha-cum-President Donyi polo Yelam Kebang and followers of Donyi-Poloism.
Speaking on the occasion, ZPM congratulated the author for publishing such a very important book. She appealed to the people, especially youths to read the book and learn about the culture, traditions and language of their ancestors. She further encouraged people of Boh, Ramo and Bokar communities to publish more such books to enrich the culture.
Sharing her experience on publication of prayer book, author, Oi Komi (Ragyor) said, “This prayer book is my humble and maiden attempt to protect and preserve the vanishing culture, traditions and dialects of the Adis of Mechukha Sub-Division.
Informing that the prayer book is divided into two parts — Prayer songs and Chanting,– Komi appealed to the members of Libo, Ramo and Bokar communities of the Adi tribe of Mechukha Sub-Division and follower of Donyi-Poloism to read the book and give feedback so that she can improve in future.
