NAMSAI, Oct 16: A day long workshop for sensitization of Campus Ambassador was organized here at DC’s Conference hall on Monday.
Inaugurating the workshop Deputy Commissioner cum District Election Officer RK Sharma said Campus Ambassadors have been appointed as per directives of the Election Commission of India from among the students in recognized Colleges and Universities to bridge the gap in youth electoral participation.
The campus Ambassadors will be emissaries of the ECI in the campus to facilitate registration especially to the students on attainment of 18 years age, informed DC Sharma.
He further requested the newly appointed Campus Ambassadors to shoulder the responsibility entrusted upon them with utmost dedication.
DPO Namsai cum constituency level master trainer Dr. K Sarmah explained in details on the role and duties of Campus Ambassadors, procedure of elector enrolment, salient features of electoral as well as electioneering process including use of EVMs and VVPAT.
Dr Sarmah illuminated the procedure of uses of various electronic devices through PPT.
14 Campus Ambassadors from different educational Institutions of the district took part in the programme. All the EROs and AEROs of Namsai district attended the workshop.
