ITANAGAR, Oct 20: All Puroik Welfare Society (APWS) has strongly opposed the appointment of an IAS officer to the post of Autonomous Puroik Welfare Board’s (APWB) Chairman saying that according to the High Power Committee (HPC) recommendation to the state government, the appointment to the post of APWB chairman and members should be made from Puroik community only and not others.
While terming the decision to appoint a chairman who does not belong to Puroik community as completely wrong, the APWS said that since the Board is an independent governing body, a govt. servant cannot become its chairman or even a member.
It further informed that the APWB office has been remaining non-functional till date with no government staff posted in the office and demanded early posting of adequate staffs.
