Vaccination camp for hill cattle and hybrids

DIRANG, Oct, 21: The ICAR-National Research Centre on Yak (NRC on Yak), Dirang organized awareness cum vaccination camp in Sangti village of Dirang circle in West Kameng district recently, where 105 cattle and minthun-cattle hybrids were vaccinated against Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD).
The camp mainly focused on FMD of cattle and hybrids. FMD is a viral disease that causes severe infection in cattle and hybrid leading to economic losses to the farmers.
During the programme, farmers were made aware about FMD and told about the scientific precautions to be taken to prevent the infection. The farmers also apprised the team of scientists from the institute regarding outbreak of the disease last year in their herd.
Villagers also thanked Dr S M Deb, Director of ICAR-NRC on Yak and his team for organizing the camp and requested further support from the institute in the future.
