PASIGHAT, Oct 29: Two truckloads of timber were seized by the police from Pasighat on October 28.
The timber laden trucks (AR 09 1169 and AR 09 6948) were intercepted during naka-checking by the Pasighat unit police at Medical Chariali around 2 am.
“We have detained two trucks laden with timber and the person(s) involved in it would be arrested after cross-checking with the Forest Department,” informed Deputy Superintendent of Police Torum Makcha.
According to the Deputy SP, the persons did not possess valid Transit Pass.
The Pasighat unit police registered a case in this regard under section 379 IPC r/w Sec. 25 (d) of Assam Forest Regulation Act.
