2nd State Olympic Games begins on Nov 3

ITANAGAR, Nov 1: The second State Olympic Games is all set to kick off at Sangay Lhaden Sports Academy (SLSA) Complex, Chimpu near here on Nov 3.
All preparations for the state’s top sporting event have been completed and the organizing committee, including technical officials is ready to conduct the Game, said Arunachal Olympic Association Secretary General Abraham K Techi.
The events will be conducted in different venues in Itanagar and Nahalragun.
While Athletics, Archery, Boxing, Karate, Judo, Table Tennis, Wushu and Teakwondo will be conducted at SLSA complex, women’s football will be held at Rajiv Gandhi Stadium, Naharlagun. Weightlifting will be held at Sports Authority of India’s Special Area Game Centre, Naharlagun and Badminton competitions will be conducted at Raj Bhawan Badminton hall, Itanagar.
Techi told this reporter that accommodation for the participating players/athletes, officials, district president and general secretaries, except for the Capital region, have been well arranged in SLSA Hostels, Bharat Scouts and Guides State HQs at Polo Colony, Naharlagun and in various hotels in Itanagar and Naharlagun.
Indian Olympic Association Vice President Birendra Prasad Baishya will attend the inaugural function.
Secretary General of Manipur Olympic Association Sunil Elangbam will also attend and highlight the success history of Manipur in sports.
Meanwhile, the Changlang team for the Games has already arrived.
