Fire in Mumbai’s Arunachal Bhavan

NAVI MUMBAI, Nov 6: A major fire broke out in the upper floors of the Arunachal Bhavan tower in sector 30-A near Vashi Railway Station on Monday around 2 PM, reports the Times of India.
Fire tenders from Vashi, CBD, Nerul and Airoli were rushed to the spot, while the 68 metre high Bronto Skylift was also used for spraying the water jet during the fire fighting operation.
As the fire spread to the balcony of the rooms at the 13th floor, due to wind, the fire gutted the upper floors as well, thus, damaging the exterior wall of the building and partially charred the offices on those floors
Vashi Chief Fire Officer Prabhakar Gadhe said, “The staff and workers on the 10th floor immediately exited, but three office boys on the 13th floor office got trapped in the fire and smoke.
Hence, the fire fighters rescued them through the emergency exit using the Bronto skylift.”
Several cancer patients from Arunachal Pradesh residing on the second floor of Arunachal Bhavan said that they could easily evacuate as they were on the lower floor of the tower. The fire was put off within 25 minutes.
