ROING, Nov 17: The fear of Japanese Encephalitis (JE) gripped town dwellers following death of a couple of children, allegedly due to JE. The rumour of JE outbreak has kept parents on their toes with many running for getting their children vaccinated against the disease.
However, Dr Ista Pulu and Dr Lohit Deori at the District Hospital Roing dismissed it as rumour.
They confirmed that there has been no registered case of JE in the district so far. The death of a child few days back was due to diarrhoea and vomiting, a seasonal disease caused due to change of season, they said.
They also informed that many children and adult people are suffering from the problem now; but symptoms of JE have not been found from any of the patients.
