DEM, Nov 18: The three-day golden jubilee celebration of Dem Baptist Church began at Deed Pastoral Range, NBCC on a colourful note at the Dem General Ground on November 17.
A massive procession was organised within Dem village from Tagi Happa to Possa paying homage to retired Reverend Tash Taram for his contributions towards NBCC.
Reverend Tar Choya and social worker Likha Maj lauded the efforts of the organisers and called to maintain peace and brotherhood everywhere.
Apart from worships, words of god and church events, various cultural displays also took place.
The golden jubilee plaque was unveiled by Reverend Halli Likha and all the pioneers responsible for establishing Dem Baptist Church were remembered. Doves, symbolic of peace, love and prosperity were also liberated by the speakers, while the church gate and foundation stone of the church’s guest house was laid and dedicated.
“Paqyalinco”, an audio album was also released and dedicated by Reverend Dr Changha Chippo, while singers of the said audio album were acknowledged and felicitated.
Also taking part in the celebrations, the daughters-in-law (Dunn/Dugne) of Dem village gifted a vehicle to Dem Baptist Church.
A large gathering of people from nearby areas, including Capital Complex thronged the opening ceremony, which was also attended by various dignitaries.
