ITANAGAR, Nov 22: The state government is considering the enhancement of salaries of contractual teachers working under SSA and RMSA and the Education Department is putting up a note to be placed in the next Cabinet meeting regarding this, said Special Secretary, Education, Mitali Namchoom, in a meeting with the executive members of the All Arunachal Pradesh Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan Teachers’ Association (AASSATA).
In the meeting, which was convened by her in her office chamber as per the directive of the Chief Secretary, Namchoom further informed that this issue could not be placed in the last Cabinet meeting as inter-departmental consultation was taking time while following established codal formalities.
Regarding regularization of contractual teachers working under the SSA, the Special Secretary informed the AASSATA executive members that the state government has been regularizing the prescribed quota meant for SSA teachers every year.
However, it is mandatory that all the teachers working under SSA should possess APTET/CTET certificate as is the requisite qualification for getting appointment as a teacher in Elementary Education.
The department shall strictly follow the norms and rules laid down by the MHRD and the Recruitment Rules, to which the department is legally bound.
“Only TET/CTET qualified SSA teachers shall be regularised on the basis of their batch wise seniority”, she added.
While responding to exempt APTET/CTET for the teachers who have crossed their relaxation age to get regularized, the Special Secretary told the delegates that the criteria related to mandatory qualification has been framed and issued by the MHRD and the state government is duty bound to follow the same.
However, the Special Secretary assured the AASSATA representatives that the state government would look into the matter by taking it up with the MHRD. (DIPR)
