TEZU, Nov 23: Lohit Deputy Commissioner Karma Leki stressed on the importance of right knowledge and skills to attend to children with Intellectual Disabilities (ID) in schools.
He said this on Thursday while attending a training and awareness programme on ‘Disability Rehabilitation’ conducted by the National Institute for the Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (Divyangjan), Secunderabad, in collaboration with the Tezu ICDS at the BRC Hall.
Resource persons headed by Dr B Mohapatra are imparting necessary training and awareness to SSA teachers on Intellectual Rehabilitation.
Addressing the teachers, who are an integral part of a child’s development, the DC appealed to them to learn all the technicalities involved so that they become informed teachers. He said knowledge gained by the teacher will help to create a positive environment as per the needs and requirements of ID children, which is essential for their holistic growth.
With the help of power point presentation and audio visual clips, Dr B Mohapatra and his team highlighted the aims and objectives of the training and awareness programme.
The training will conclude on Saturday.
