Literacy and sanitation should move together: DC

HAWAI, Nov 23: Anjaw Deputy Commissioner, Mamata Riba has called upon the students to educate the public about the need for sanitation and hygiene to make Anjaw an open-defection free district.
She said this while launching the library movement on Thursday.
Hawai CO Rupir Siboh highlighted the essential role of a library in the community, saying that reading books helps build a foundation for future leaders.
The initiative was started by Zilla Swachh Bharat Prerak (ZSBP), Badapbiang T Dkhar, who has been accessing sanitary conditions in schools across the district, along with the team from the Public Health Engineering Department in Anjaw.
So far, 700 books have been collected through individual donations across India.
The aim of the library is not only to generate the habit of reading but also to create awareness regarding menstrual hygiene and sanitation through the magic of comic books.
