ITANAGAR, Nov 26: The proposed 12-hour bandh called by the Students Union Movement of All Arunachal (SUMAA), Upper Subansiri Unit on November 27 was called off after the District Administration assured to fulfill the demand for proper implementation of RTE Act in the district, said a SUMAA-USU release.
The SUMAA unit held a joint meeting with Upper Subansiri District Private Schools Association and ATA’s district unit to discuss the prevailing education system in the district.
The meeting observed that the proposed bandh will affect the on going half-yearly and various other examinations in various government and private schools in the district.
The meeting adopted joint resolution that all the schools in the district will implement RTE Act, 2009 in letter and spirit from the next academic session and the fees allegedly collected from students in the name of CBSE registration etc by various schools will be refunded.
SUMAA–USU alleged that some schools had collected exorbitant fees from students in the name of CBSE registration etc, in violation of guidelines under the RTE Act.
