International Day of Persons with Disabilities observed

ITANAGAR, Dec 4: The International Day of Persons with Disabilities was observed by the All Arunachal Pradesh Divyang Jan Welfare Society (AAPDJWS) in collaboration with the Department of Social Justice Empowerment and Tribal Affairs, at Government Higher Secondary School, Ganga here on December 3 last.
Parliamentary Secretary for Planning, UD & WD, Techi Kaso and Ganga village AS Chairperson, Teli Yamang also attended the celebrations.
Earlier, the Arunachal Disable Artist Forum (ADAF) had organized a sports event for the disabled from November 26 to December 3 at Nyokum Lapang ground here.
On the valedictory day of the programme, State Science & Technology Chairman, Bamang Mangha gave away prizes to Ajing Aron, Lower Subansiri Club, and Yura Mji Star – the winners of the volleyball matches in men’s and women’s categories, respectively.
In Lohit HQ Tezu, district-level games, sports, literary and cultural competitions were held under the guidance of the DDSE, under Inclusive Education, SSA, to mark the day.
Earlier in the day a procession was flagged off by DDSE, Manna Linggi which saw the participation of students of Government Upper Primary School-III, teachers, and children with special needs along with their parents.
In Nirjuli, the International Day of Disabled Persons was celebrated by the SSA District Mission, Yupia on December 3 with a prabhat pheri by school children and government officials.
Singing, drawing and painting competitions, besides other fun activities were also held on the day for specially-abled children, who were later awarded with prizes.
