ROING, Dec 7: The Lower Dibang Valley District Child Protection Unit organised an awareness programme on protection of women from domestic violence and sexual harassment at workplace at the DCPU hall here on December 7.
Supported by the Roing ICDS cell of the Department of Women & Child Development, the programme saw the participation of self-help groups from eight villages.
Roing DC Chesta Yadav highlighted the need for women to gather knowledge on Acts and laws that could help them, while advocate Bulia Pulu spoke on the Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act, 2005. She called on women in need of support to come forward and avail the services through protection officers, police officers, service providers, and lawyers of the DLSA.
Advocate Kange Tayeng spoke on sexual harassment of women at workplace. It was followed by a PowerPoint presentation on domestic violence by Roing ORW DCPU Jomi Mimi. (DIPRO)
