ITANAGAR, Dec 7: Itanagar Municipal Council (IMC), Ward 18 Councillor, Gora Lotak on Thursday demanded an explanation from the Mere Vichar Andolan Committee (MVAC) within seven days for its remarks that he (Lotak) claimed to be the MVAC’s Convenor, and that he had received favours from the Pema Khandu-led BJP Government.
Addressing reporters here on Thursday, Lotak clarified that he and several others had been members of the Arunachal Pradesh People’s United Front (APPUF), the nomenclature of which was subsequently changed to MVAC.
He, however, maintained that he had never claimed to be the convenor of the MVAC.
Demanding a clarification from the MVAC within seven days on the allegations, Lotak said he would resign if the MVAC can provide any proof of him taking favours in cash or kind.
“I will resign from the post of councillor if the MVAC provides proof that I have taken any money, and I shall apologise publicly,” he said, adding that if the MVAC fails to do so, he would file a defamation case against it at the end of the seven days, starting Thursday.
The MVAC had on Monday claimed that Lotak was never a part of the committee. It had demanded proof from the IMC councillor within seven days.
The committee had warned of “disclosing his nexus with the present leadership and the favours and rewards that he received from the Pema Khandu-led BJP government” if Lotak failed to advocate his case.
