ITANAGAR, Dec 8: Member of Parliament, Ninong Ering has appealed to the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development to increase the ratio of fund allocation from the Centre for the Smart City Mission in Pasighat.
In a letter to the Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Hardeep Singh Puri, on December 4 last, Ering also sought creation of a special purpose vehicle for Smart City Mission in Pasighat.
‘The location of this city is of strategic importance, for if developed it could serve as India’s gateway to East Asia, becoming a major trading hub in the region. To realize this vision, I also urge you to increase the ratio of fund allocation from the Centre,’ he stated, adding it has been the state’s vision that Pasighat becomes a carbon-neutral smart city that can set an example for others in the area.
Further, stating that work on the Pasighat Smart City proposal is scheduled to begin next year, with the first round of funding to be around Rs 250 crores, Ering urged the Centre to provide close to 90 per cent of the sum.
