West Siang earn draw with last gasp equalizer

NAHARLAGUN, Dec 9: A dramatic last gasp equalizer by Karli Ngomdir helped his side, West Siang, hold East Siang to a pulsating 1-1 draw in the inaugural match of the final round of the 16th Tadar Tang State Level Football Tournament at Rajiv Gandhi Stadium here on Saturday.
East Siang went 1-0 up early with a goal from Captain Mitin Tayeng in the 24th minute, and seemed to be in control. As the game entered the last minute, West Siang earned a corner kick, and Karli headed home with a few seconds of the added time remaining to force East Siang split points.
Earlier, Tadar Yadir, wife of late Tadar Tang and Chairperson of the Tang Foundation Multipurpose Society, hoisted the tournament flag in the presence of Senior Vice President of Arunachal Olympic Association, Taba Tedir, Sports Authority of Arunachal Vice Chairman Gechi Doke, and officials of the Arunachal Pradesh Football Association.
Two matches will be played on Sunday. The match between Papum Pare and Namsai will be held at 12.15 pm, while Capital Complex will be up against East Kameng at 2 pm.
