TEZU, Dec 11: The All Mishmi Women Welfare Society (AMWWS) has appealed to women to stop cultivating opium, and encouraged them to cultivate vegetables, fish, etc, instead as a source of income.
The members of the Society during its foundation day celebration, held at the Tamla Nagar community hall here on Sunday, urged everyone to contribute in the fight against drug abuse.
The speakers called upon parents to properly guide their children and also keep tabs on their friends.
Attending as resource persons, District Tourism Officer Dibroo Catherine Boo and BDO Yulabsi Manyu sensitized the participants about various government schemes for the welfare and development of women.
Boo advised the women to start home-stay services to earn a living. (DIPRO)
