ITANAGAR, Dec 12: The Itanagar Traffic Wardens (ITW) in a representation to the chief secretary on Tuesday requested that he initiate steps to have their salaries, pending for the last four months, released.
The ITW sought to draw the CS’ attention to the plight of the traffic wardens, saying though the chief executive officer has been sidelining their legitimate demands – despite their having launched a whistle-down strike in August – the traffic wardens have been performing their duties without getting any wages for the last four months.
‘Many of us who are living in rental apartments are now unable to pay rent, and some of us are the sole breadwinners of the respective families,’ the ITW said, and appealed to the state government to look into their demands at the earliest.
