LONGDING, Dec 14: Longding District Students’ Union (LDSU) Spokesperson Taibo Boham in a release on Tuesday informed that the government primary school in Wanu village in Longding district is facing a shortage of teachers.
Boham said he had led an LDSU team to the school on Wednesday, during which the school’s managing committee informed them that the school, established in 1965, has not yet been upgraded, and that only two teachers have been given the responsibility of teaching about 168 students there.
‘As per the RTE Act, the pupil-teacher ratio for a primary school should be 30:1,’ Boham stated, adding that the school also lacks adequate desks and benches.
He further claimed that books have also not been provided to the students through the last four academic years.
