AALO, Dec 18: Following reports of shortage of blood at the general hospital here in West Siang district, the Arunachal Voluntary Blood Donors’ Organisation (AVBDO) conducted a mass awareness campaign on voluntary blood donation here from 9-15 December.
Reportedly, AVYS Chairman Ramesh Jeke received news from people here that the hospital’s blood bank was not fully operative for the past few months due to lack of blood donors.
Sensing the lack of awareness on blood donation among the people, a three-member team from the AVBDO volunteered to undertake the task of creating awareness on voluntary blood donation among the citizens of Aalo.
A mass awareness campaign on blood donation was conducted during the weeklong programme at schools, the general ground, and the Donyi Polo Central Gangging.
The campaign was supported by the All Paktu Aao Youth Welfare Association, the Galo Aane Organisation, and others.
Over 1000 people registered to be voluntary blood donors during the campaign.
