MEBO, Dec 20: Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein inaugurated a magnificent musup (community hall) at Motum village and a school auditorium for the government secondary school at Kiyit village in East Siang district on Wednesday.
Addressing a huge gathering, Mein exhorted the people to maintain the assets created by the government and use it purposefully.
Responding to numerous memorandums submitted by the people at Kiyit village, Mein said to forward the project of Rs 2 crore for flood protection work at Rosam Korong in Kiyit village for funding from the NEC. He asked the people to submit the project proposal as early as possible. He also assured to look into demand for five units of Type-II teachers’ quarters and a science block at Kiyit secondary school.
Regarding the demand for posting of subject teachers at Borguli higher secondary school, he said that the shortage of subject teachers in the schools across the state will be resolved soon as the state government has created more than 1000 posts of teaching and non teaching staffers in the Education department.
The recruitment of subject teachers will be done through the APPSC in the coming year, he said.
On the demand for a new circle headquarters at Kiyit under Mebo subdivision, Mein assured to take up the matter with the chief minister and bring it to the cabinet for a decision.
At Motum, he said to submit proposal for tourist project for development of tourism spot at Tango Epong Patang (natural lake) under the Daying Ering Wildlife Sanctuary as demanded but at the same time asked to select the site cautiously without disturbing the greenery of the area. He also assured to look into repairing of the secondary school building at Motum and requirements of teacher’s quarter, besides flood protection work at Siluk Village and embankment at Sikhu river bank.
Regarding the demand for a new district, he said to apprise the same to the chief minister.
Lombo Tayeng, Advisor to Chief Minister, informed that the 68 km Mebo-Dholla road has been approved and sanctioned by the NEC and the survey work is going on at present. He said that the Rs 265-crore project will benefit the people of Mebo subdivision, Paglam circle in Lower Dibang Valley district, and the people of neighbouring Assam living along the interstate boundary.
He also informed the people about the creation of new anchal segments and zilla parishad blocks under the Mebo assembly constituency.
State BJP President Tapir Gao also reaffirmed that the Pema Khandu-led government in the state is stable and all the BJP MLAs are intact at present.
Kangkong Borang, a centenarian who is also the senior most head gaon burah of the area, was invited as a special guest in the musup inauguration at Motum.
He cited an Aabee (poetic rhapsody) for the house warming, good luck, well being and prosperity of all the people and development of the area.
Among others, Parliamentary Secretaries Kaling Moyong and Tatung Jamoh, East Siang DC Tamiyo Tatak, and Mebo ADC Yemling Tayeng were present at the inauguration, (DCM Media Cell)
