ITANAGAR, Dec 20: Members of the All Arunachal Pradesh Hawkers & Street Vendors Federation toured Pasighat town in East Siang district from 18-19 December to take stock of the condition of the street vendors under the Pasighat Municipal Council (PMC).
The touring team met street vendors of Pasighat town and listened to their grievances. Later the team met PMC Municipal Executive Officer, A Koyu, at his office and discussed the measures taken by the PMC to address the problems faced by street vendors of the town.
Koyu informed that the PMC is not fully independent and most of its responsibilities are carried out by the district administration due to shortage of manpower.
The team also met Deputy Commissioner Tamiyo Tatak and discussed the implementation of the Street Vendors Act and measures to regulate them. The federation’s General Secretary, Roger Nabam, spoke about ways in which the administration can regulate street vendors.
