AMWWS receives Beena Ghose Roy Award

WAKRO, Dec 24: Wakro (Lohit)-based Anu Shiksha Seva Trust has conferred its Beena Ghose Roy Award-2017 on the All Mishmi Women’s Welfare Society (AMWWS) for its contributions towards the wellbeing of the society.
The award was received by an AMWWS team,led by Shibali Yun Tayang, from Col Venkat Baba of the 82 Mountain Brigade in a function held here on Sunday.
Expressing appreciation for the AMWWS’ welfare activities, Col Baba exhorted women activists to make the society free from the menace of alcohol and opium.
The officer also urged youths and children to work to achieve their dreams, and advised parents to spend quality time with their children.
AMWWS Secretary Sibali Yun spoke about the activities of the AMWWS, and said it would continue to serve for the betterment of the society. Lohit Zilla Parishad Chairperson, Patam Rangmang, assured the women social activists of his support in their activities.
The award has been instituted in the name of social reformer and freedom fighter Beena Ghose Roy to recognize outstanding services of individuals and institutions towards the society in the region.
