MIDPU, Dec 24: Members and vehicle owners under the All Arunachal Pradesh Public Transport Federation (AAPPTF) underwent a training here on Saturday, during which traffic experts apprised them of the dos and don’ts of road safety.
Transporters were also cautioned against using mobile phones, and advised to avoid alcohol consumption, which is one of the primary causes of accidents.
AAPPTF President Dobing Sonam informed about ‘Ummid’, a scheme of the federation to provide immediate relief to its members in case of eventualities.
Arunachal Pradesh Building & Other Construction Workers’ Welfare Board Chairman,Jalley Sonam, called on workers to register with the Board to avail of the schemes available under it.
Sonam, who is also the AAPPTF’s chief adviser, announced that the Board would be the first in India to offer ‘house construction’ loan to workers from 2018 at a very low interest rate and launch a mobile hospital to offer free treatment to registered workers.
BJP leader Vijay Sonam exhorted the transporters to be “real ambassadors of the state” by their good behaviour as they are the first to come in contact with tourists.
Also citing the example of honking-free Aizwal,Sonam exhorted them to be disciplined and well behaved.
