ROING, Dec 26: The 6th district level U-17 Subroto Cup Football Tournament began at the playground of the government secondary school in Meka here in Lower Dibang Valley district on Tuesday.
Superintendent of Police Sanjay Kumar Sain, who kicked off the tournament, advised the young footballers to maintain the sportsman spirit during the tournament.
GSS Parbuk won the inaugural match, beating GHSS Roing 2-0.
In the second match, GHSS Bolung trounced GSS Jia 6-0.
Six schools from the district are participating in the tournament organized by the DDSE office.
The final will be played on 28 December.
DDSE in-charge Obang Langkam, DSO Raju Mipi, and the headmaster of the GSS Meka were also present at the inaugural function.
