HAWAI, Dec 26: Goiliang circle won the men’s football title, defeating Goiliang circle in the district level Hangpan Dada Memorial Football Tournament, which was held here in Anjaw district from 20 to 23 December.
Local MLA Dasanglu Pul, who attended the valedictory function, called upon the public to come forward and encourage the youths in games and sports.
Deputy Commissioner Mamata Riba highlighted the importance of the annual football and volleyball tournaments, which is held in honour of Ashok Chakra Hangpan Dada.
Prizes were given away to all the winning teams and best players by the dignitaries.
The tournament was kicked off by Anjaw Superintendent of Police, Kirli Padu, on 20 December.
The tournament at Namsai and Tezu (Lohit) will begin on 27 and 28 December, respectively, informed District Sports Officer BC Das. (DIPRO)
