PASIGHAT, Dec 27: East Siang administration has banned the selling of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) in the district during the year-end and New Year days from Dec 28-Jan 3.
The ban has been imposed as a precautionary measure to lessen alcohol-related road accidents and menace during the year-end and New Year celebration after a coordination meeting with the Superintendent of Police, administrative officials and NGOs working against drugs and alcohol menace in the district.
SP Prashant Gautam assured that there will be strict vigilance to make sure that all liquor shops are closed during that banned period. The SP also said that Police will also keep eye on all pan ghumtis/shops to check illegal sale of IMFL. DIPRO
