SEPPA, Dec 28: The administration here on Wednesday declared East Kameng district open defecation-free (ODF), with the construction of 6616 toilets.
Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Commissioner Rajeev Takuk expressed gratitude to all concerned for putting the district on the list of ODF districts of the country.
Advocating sustainability, the DC urged the people to ensure proper and hygienic use of toilets.
ZPC Mering Natung, PHE&WS Executive Engineer Bharat Sonam, Zilla Swachh Bharat Prerak Devika Sahni, and EKSWCO Chairman Safar Pao also spoke.
Takuk, who is also the DEO and RO of the district, expressed gratitude to all the voters, officials, party workers and candidates of the district for the peaceful conduct of the by-election to the Pakke-Kessang assembly constituency.
Meanwhile, Tirap, Longding and East Siang districts have also been declared open defecation-free. (With DIPRO input)
