RUKSIN, Dec 30: A minor boy died on the spot when he was hit by a speeding passenger vehicle (Winger) on National Highway-15 at Gali Borbali under Jonai police station in Assam on Saturday morning.
According to eyewitnesses, the vehicle (AR-09/8725) hit 10-year-old Takar Sonowal around 11 am and fled towards Ruksin.
Later, Assam police found the vehicle abandoned on the highway at Leku along the Assam-Arunachal boundary, and seized it.
A case has been registered at the Jonai police station in this regard.
Police said the driver of the vehicle involved in the accident surrendered at the Pasighat police station on Saturday itself.
He will be handed over to the Assam police on completion of formalities.
